OEM and ODM manufacturing

OEM and ODM manufacturing means a specialist factory makes your product while you build the brand. Furley Bioextracts is a Malaysian manufacturer that works both ways. Bring a finished formula and we make it (OEM). Start with an idea and we develop it with you (ODM).

We look after formulation, production, packaging and the regulatory paperwork around it. Our work covers edibles, supplements, cosmetics, halal products, HOCl wound care and bioextracts.

Our quality systems include ISO 13485 for medical devices and FSSC 22000 for food safety, with the full list on our certifications page.

Key takeaways

  • OEM means we manufacture to your formula. ODM means we develop the formula with you.
  • Private label lets you launch under your own brand and packaging.
  • We cover edibles, supplements, cosmetics, halal products, wound care and bioextracts.
  • We support NPRA notification and registration for products sold in Malaysia.
  • Certified to ISO 13485 (medical devices) and FSSC 22000 (food safety).

What is the difference between OEM and ODM?

OEM and ODM are two ways to work with a manufacturer. The right one depends on how much of the product you have already defined.

OEM stands for original equipment manufacturing. You supply the specification or formula, and we manufacture it with consistent quality control.

ODM stands for original design manufacturing. You share the brief, the target consumer and the claims you would like to make. We develop the formulation, samples and documentation.

Private label means you launch the finished product under your own name, packaging and positioning, without building a factory.

Which products can Furley manufacture?

We manufacture products in four main areas, and we also supply bioextracts and halal products across them.

  • Edibles and functional foods
  • Supplements
  • Cosmetics and personal care
  • HOCl wound care

Edibles and functional foods

We make food products and edibles for brand owners who need food safety they can stand behind. Our food work is guided by Food Halal, FSSC 22000 and HACCP requirements. Formats, flavours and pack styles are agreed with you during the brief.

Supplements

We offer custom supplement formulation and manufacture. We review ingredient dosage and possible interactions. Where compounds do not sit well together, we look at formulation and encapsulation approaches that keep them apart. Filler-free formulations are part of how we work.

  • Custom or adapted formulations
  • Formats agreed in the brief
  • GMP-guided production and batch documentation

Cosmetics and personal care

We handle cosmetic ODM and OEM from concept to a filled, labelled and packed product. We can build on Furley’s own raw materials and bioextracts. We also help you prepare the information needed for NPRA notification before the product is sold in Malaysia.

Can you manufacture halal products?

Yes. Furley holds Food Halal certification. We plan ingredients, suppliers and processes around halal requirements from the first conversation, not as an afterthought. Tell us at the start if halal is required, so the formulation is built correctly.

Wound care (HOCl)

Our wound care work is built around hypochlorous acid, known as HOCl, and made with ISO 13485 medical device quality management in mind. See wound.doctor for our own wound care brand.

Bioextracts

We develop plant and bio-based extracts in-house for our own formulations and for selected partner brands. If you want a distinctive active for a supplement or cosmetic, ask what we can offer.

What about packaging and minimum order quantities?

We help you choose packaging, review label text and claims against the rules for your market, and coordinate artwork so the finished pack is ready to sell.

Minimum order quantities depend on the product format, the packaging and the ingredients. Tell us what you have in mind and we will confirm what is practical for your first run.

How do you support regulatory approval?

Selling in Malaysia means working with the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) under the Ministry of Health. We support the documentation for NPRA notification and registration. We can also advise on what export markets, such as the US FDA, will expect.

More questions about OEM and ODM manufacturing

Can I start with only an idea?

Yes. Share your idea, target consumer and market. Under ODM our team develops the formulation and samples, and you decide how far to take it.

Can you manufacture to my own formula?

Yes. That is OEM manufacturing. We review your formula for quality, stability and regulatory fit before production.

Who handles the regulatory paperwork?

We prepare and support the documentation, including NPRA notification and registration for Malaysia. You remain the brand owner and we guide you through each step.
